Personal Trainer Philosophy | As a Personal Trainer and Strength Coach it is my intention with my client to not only help them reach their fitness and health goals, but to educate them thoroughly in the process. I seek to accomplish this so that should my clients ever feel it is time to discontinue utilizing my services they are highly equipped and confident enough in their abilities to be their own trainer and be able to continue on their fitness journey for the rest of their life. I motivate and push my clients through a variety of different approaches and find which coaching style is most well suited to each individual. Throughout my childhood I was involved in a wide variety of sports. In high school my weight would fluctuate drastically going from overweight to fitting the clinical definition of anorexia, I struggled greatly with my diet and body image issues. By the end of high school, I became invested in the weight room and strength training. I found my passion in doing so and went to UW Madison for a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology – Exercise and Movement Science. For more than 8 years now I have been training for and competing in the sport of Strongman, a lifting sport where athletes are tasked with lifting a wide variety of unusual and often awkward and cumbersome implements for varying set and rep schemes. The sporting background and my personal history in the gym leave me to be an especially suitable trainer for anyone seeking to pursue greater “functional strength,” and feel more fit and capable of handling regular daily tasks. I also specialize in adaptive training. With a history training disabled populations and my own personal experiences having had to train around injuries, I have mastered the art of making on the fly changes to lifts, form, and equipment to suit the needs of the individual. I have a deep base of knowledge around the nutritional sciences and am able to provide valuable coaching and guidance for any fitness goal. I believe in the importance of having flexibility in dieting when desired and seek to accommodate to each individual’s needs and desires as it comes to their goals, and to their cravings. Food is not meant to be the enemy, and it is my goal to make dieting as convenient and stress free as possible. |
